Clear skies expected tonight for Full Beaver Moon

Overcast or cloudy skies may have blocked some view of November's full moon Tuesday night, but the celestial event can be seen Wednesday night, too.

The full moon technically arrives at 9:46 a.m. Wednesday, making either Tuesday or Wednesday nights' moons both good in terms of viewing the moon's size and brightness. However, this month, that isn't saying much.

The full moon coincides with lunar apogee, when the earth and moon are furthest apart in orbit.

This month's full moon is known as the Full Beaver Moon, perhaps because it was the time to set traps for furs traditionally, or because beavers are preparing for winter about now, according to the Farmer's Almanac.

Clear skies are in the forecast in Baltimore on Wednesday night.
