Tornado watch issued for Baltimore area overnight Saturday

Meteorologists have issued a tornado watch for the Baltimore area through early Sunday.

The watch was issued for Baltimore city and Baltimore, Howard, Harford, Carroll and Anne Arundel counties, as well as parts of the Eastern Shore. The tornado watch continues until 1 a.m. Sunday.

National Weather Service meteorologists are warning of severe thunderstorms and the possibility of damaging winds, Ping-Pong-sized hail and an isolated tornado.

A tornado watch means weather conditions are favorable to the development of a tornado.
