Capital Gazette wins special Pulitzer Prize citation for coverage of newsroom shooting that killed five

Patrick McMurtray, an environmental services specialist at Carroll Community College, replaces garbage can liners as powerful winds howl across the Westminster Campus Monday, Feb. 25, 2019. McMurtray, who has a background in landscape architechture, has learned a lot of tricks to staying comfortable while working outside in the elements during his 18 years at Carroll. In addition to his work at the college, McMurtray also serves as the President of the Board of the Freedom Center, a Maryland nonprofit that empowers people with disabilities to live independently.
