The Red Line would not have made a dent in downtown traffic congestion (“The real culprit in Baltimore’s traffic woes,” July 18). Most traffic coming into downtown is north-south from North Baltimore, Baltimore, Harford and Carroll counties and from Anne Arundel and Howard counties.
Most people in cars would not use public transit, maybe Uber or Lyft or a ride share service but not city buses or even light rail. If gridlock persisted, a few people might move closer to downtown into the Mt. Vernon or Little Italy areas or maybe neighborhoods bordering the Hopkins Homewood campus. Others might work from home, work at jobs outside of downtown, relocate or retire.
