City homicides are a tiresome constant

It's 6 p.m. Tuesday, and what's the lead on the Baltimore Sun website? Another shooting and death in the city (“37-year-old man killed in shooting, Baltimore police say,” Dec. 12).

I'm really tired of the constant bashing of our police department. The commissioner and his troops, for the most part, are a hardworking group, and they must be assisted by the public in cleaning up this city. In addition, the prosecutors and judges have to do their duty in this effort. If the accused has a record of handgun and assault arrests before, forget bail. Putting these criminals out on the street again just reinforces their dismissal of the law.

Sadly, I think Baltimore will have another record year of these deaths unless there's a greater effort to get tough on crime.
