In second term, Hogan likely to turn partisan

The detailed accounting of your editorial endorsement of Larry Hogan for governor was impressive, but there was one crucial omission (“Sun endorsement: Hogan for Maryland governor,” Oct. 24).

The difference between a first term Republican governing in a blue state while facing reelection as opposed to governing in a second term when reelection considerations disappear was given no consideration. During his first term, Governor Hogan has shown flashes of the partisanship, pettiness and bullying of which he is capable. Gov. Chris Christie was a moderate Republican darling in blue New Jersey during his first term and despised after winning re-election.

At least in your detailed editorial endorsement of Ben Jealous for the Democratic nomination, you admitted to giving zero consideration to which candidate would be the best political match-up versus Mr. Hogan.
