Sorry but a fetus is not the same as a child

I offer my condolences to the Wallen family. (“Parents seek to widen law on fetal homicide,” Jan. 30.) However, I am energized to protest any opinion that the fetus is a human being until fetal birth occurs and the potential human draws it first independent breath.

This event gets its energy from the religious world and it should remain there. Abortion is outside the law and social judgments.

We must refuse to mix religion and society’s rules. God must remain personal and never political. To do so defeats the mandate concerning separation of church and state; the reason for the United States of America.

Once again, my commiseration to Mark and Gwen Wallen.

John Holter
