Redmer's scare tactics should disqualify him

The negative attack campaign for Baltimore County executive being waged by Al Redmer Jr. disqualifies him as a serious contender for the office. His newest ad relies on falsehoods, half-truths and empty rhetoric (“Ad watch: In Baltimore County executive race, GOP’s Redmer calls Democrat Olszewski a ‘big spending taxer,’” Oct. 3). Instead of addressing real issues like funding for school construction, economic development and basic county services like transportation and code enforcement, the Republican candidate has resorted to scary mood music, creepy Photoshopped images, and bogus claims about his opponent’s record.

In contrast, John Olszewski Jr., the Democratic candidate, has conducted a consistently positive campaign of ideas and facts, something sorely needed and appreciated in 2018. Baltimore County needs a leader who has concrete plans to create 21st century jobs, modernize local government and put our schools first. We don’t need name calling and finger pointing; we need someone who will be a leader for all of Baltimore County.
