With so many schools in Maryland closed Tuesday ("Heat forces 10 Baltimore County schools to close; 60-plus Baltimore City schools to release early,” Sept. 4), I think it might be time to broaden Gov. Larry Hogan's school dates mandate to now have the school year begin in a cooler atmosphere, say, the day after Halloween.
This would also make the good people in Ocean City happy to be able to extend the summer fun through October, bringing in more money in taxes which could then be used to air condition every school in the state. Win-win for all.
