Education in Maryland has received some plus grades with the selection of a Baltimore County teacher as National Teacher of the Year ("Baltimore County educator named National Teacher of the Year," April 30).
And on another tack, there's the time the Howard County school superintendent dropped in on the kids by parachute to make her point.
These fine educators know how to motivate students. It's the personal relationships between students and teachers the make this happen.
Just as every lesson has an aim and a plan to motivate the class to learn the topic, the key to success is how the teachers and students relate to one another in the greater game of learning.
My hat is off to these fine exemplars. It's nice to read some positive press about schooling.
