Dwyer can set example by resigning [Letter]

According to The Sun ("Citing own example, Dwyer backs punishment bill Feb. 5), Del. Donald H. Dwyer Jr. has introduced legislation that would require jail time and rehab for public officials convicted of drunken driving and would subject legislators to removal from office if they're jailed for any offense.

The three-term delegate is serving 30 weekends in jail after being convicted of drunken driving in October. Delegate Dwyer apologized on the House floor but said he would not resign. Huh? He wants others who are convicted in the future to be subject to removal from office, but he won't resign? What arrogance. The House should pass the legislation and make it retroactive to last October and then remove him from office.
