The Raiders kept on rolling through their county schedule, and with the rain only played one game this week – which was an impressive 3-0 victory over a good Mt. Hebron team. Ashley Ensor scored Atholton’s first goal, assisted by Adrienne Vaughn who has impressed thus far in her junior season. Holly Edsall then scored back-to-back goals in the second half to put away her team’s sixth consecutive victory. Atholton has backed up the hype with convincing wins over quality teams over the Vikings, Howard and Century – but has also proved it can win close games, like its 1-0 OT victory over Centennial. As of now, if the Raiders win-out the rest of the way the county championship is theirs – and they’ll be a big favorite in the 3A playoffs as well. Up next: Tuesday, Oct. 4 versus River Hill.
