A play-within-a-play brings laughs to Glenelg High [Glenwood/Glenelg/Dayton]

Members of the theatre department at Glenelg High School have been working hard on their fall theatrical performance of the slapstick comedy “Noises Off.” This play within a play involves a group of actors rehearsing a flop called “Nothing’s On.” The production follows a show from dress rehearsal to opening night and finally a performance at the end of a run of bad performances. Lots of slamming doors, flubbed lines, backstage intrigue and even some fish are involved in this slapstick comedy.

Appearing on stage will be Matthew Hulett, Jake Baker, Allison Fitzgerald, AJ Patel, Kelsey Flavin, Jackie Lyons, Cameron Denny, Jake Wilkin and Corinne Rasch. Behind the scenes will be student director and stage manager Emily Soeken and the stage crew, which consists of Torin Alexandar, Briana Butler, Hannah Hills, Gloria McComas, Emily Miller, Imani Nokuri and Maria Salandra.

Kassidy Sharp, the theatre arts director at Glenelg High School, is proud of the hard-working cast and hopes the audiences will love the show as much as her students do.

Kelsey Flavin, a sophomore says, “It is easily the funniest show I have ever been in. Please come out to support our theatre department, and see ‘Noises Off.’”

Senior Allison Fitzgerald says, “The play has been one of the most challenging shows I’ve ever been in, but it’s also been one of my favorites. I’m super excited for people to get to see the show and fall in love with it as much as I have.”
