Pets and owners take the field in Laurel Dog Show

Westley, owned by Lisa Everette, won Best in Show at the Laurel Dog Show

Laurel Parks and Recreation's annual Laurel Dog Show provided a chance for some local pups and their owners to enter the show ring and compete for ribbons and prizes.

The show Sept. 27 at McCullough Field featured 35 pets and owners competing in categories based on looks and behavior, with Lisa Everette's Westley winning Best in Show.

Bonny DuCote, recreation program specialist at the city's Department of Parks and Recreation, said she was just "happy the weather cooperated," and thanked this year's judges: Laurel Parks and Recreation Director Mike Lhotsky, City Councilwoman Donna Crary and Kay Harrison, from the city administrator's office.

Door prizes were donated by Prince George's County SPCA, Pet Barn, All Dogs Club Daycare, Spay Now, Pet Value and Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital.
