The thrill of the midway and all the fair classics remain until Aug. 11 with the crowd favorite, parade of floats, set for Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. on Midway Boulevard.
The 103rdWoodstock Festival is set for Aug. 11 and 12 at St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Church at 10800 Old Court Road. Flea market, fried chicken and ham dinner, games of chance, country store, children’s games and more. Fun for the entire family is the only way to describe this event. Questions? Book lovers wait all year. As the school year approaches and calendars are filled in, it’s time to mark the dates for the 23rd Annual Book Sale at Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran Church.
This year, the sale will take place on Sept. 13 and 14, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This is the largest used book sale in Howard County. Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran Church isat 14551 Burntwoods Road. All proceeds from this phenomenal book sale go toward church-sponsored charities.
If summer visitors have you scratching your head with ideas for local outings, look no further than the Robinson Nature Center in Columbia. The latest interactive exhibit at the center is the Astromobile. The Astromboile allows visitors to design their own stars, explore the universe in ultraviolet light and better understand wavelengths of energy. The exhibit is on loan to the Robinson Nature Center until August of 2019. The Robinson Nature Center is at 6692 Cedar Lane in Columbia.
