The Howard County Historical Society will host a lecture, "The National Road," on Friday, March 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Society's museum, 8328 Court Ave., Ellicott City.

Guest speaker Virginia Frank, president of Maryland National Road, will give an overview of the history of Maryland's National Road. Guests are invited to bring their own lunch (drinks and treats are provided) and to stay after the event for a tour of the museum.

Silhouette Stages presents the hilarious Monty Python musical "Spamalot" starring former Centennial High School theater director Mo Dutterer as King Arthur. In 2005, "Spamalot," the musical version of the "Monty Python andthe Holy Grail" movie, won multiple awards including a Tony for best musical.

Co-directed by Debbie Mobley and Conni Ross with Michael Tan (musical direction) and Tina DeSimone (choreography), Silhouette Stages' "Spamalot" production is Friday, March 6, 13 and 20, and Saturday, March 7, 14 and 21, at 8 p.m., with two Sunday matinees March 15 and 22, at 3 p.m., at the Wilde Lake Village Center'sSlayton House.

The cast also stars Emma Jensen (Lady of the Lake), Tommy Malek (Sir Robin/Guard 1/Brother Maynard), Ryan Geiger (Sir Lancelot/French Taunter/Knight of Ni/Tim the Enchanter), Jeremy Goldman (Patsy/Mayor/Guard 2), Jim Gross (Sir Galahad/Dennis/Prince Herbert's Father/Black Knight), Rich Greenslit (Sir Bedevere/Dennis' mother/Concorde), Matt Wetzel (Historian/Not Dead Fred/French Guard/Minstrel/Prince Herbert) and Neal Townsend (Sir Not Appearing in this Show).

The Howard County Welcome Center in Historic Ellicott City is looking for volunteers to meet and greet 30,000-plus tourists from all over the world on evenings, weekends, holidays and some weekdays.

A sense of humor and good customer relations skills are required — tech savviness is also welcome. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Sixteen- and 17-year-old volunteers, accompanied by an adult, are also welcome. The center is open seven days a week, 363 days of the year.
