Howard All-County baseball, coaches selections

The Howard County baseball coaches met last week to select the 2014 All-County team.

Atholton senior centerfielder Brady Acker, a first-team selection in 2012 and 2013, was named the Player of the Year after batting .541 (33/61) with 36 runs, 22 RBIs, 10 doubles, two triples and four home runs (.967 slugging) with 20 walks (.659 on-base percentage) and nine stolen bases. Acker led the Raiders to two consecutive county championships and will play for George Mason next year.

Reservoir junior Cody Morris was selected the Pitcher of the Year for the third straight spring after leading the Gators to their first 3A state championship. Morris, who has committed to play collegiately for the University of South Carolina, was 8-1 this spring with a sub 0.90 ERA, 89 strikeouts and 14 walks.

Morris also contributed to the offense by batting better than .360 with 18 hits, 13 runs and 10 RBIs.
