Ellicott City man arrested in Columbia burglary [Crime Log]

The following is compiled from police reports. The Columbia Flier includes descriptions of perpetrators only when the description makes identification possible.

Beechwood Drive, 6400 block, 7:40 a.m. March 4. Attempt to gain entry to residence by forcing front door. Nothing taken. Linked to burglary on March 3. David James Monk, 28, of Melba Road in Ellicott City, charged with first, third and fourth-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property and theft in both cases.

East Columbia

Hingston Downs, 9600 block, 7:14 p.m. March 7. 2008 Blue Kawasaki motorcycle stolen.

Five Fingers Way, 5300 block, 9 a.m. March 5. Entry gained to residence via unlocked door. Victim confronted suspect, who fled.

Stevens Forest Road, 6200 block, between Feb. 24 and March 4. Late reported incident. Entry gained to residence by forcing front door. Copper piping stolen.

West Columbia

Twin Rivers Road, 10400 block, 11:50 a.m. March 10. Four black men approached victim and demanded belongings. Victim assaulted. Backpack stolen.

River Run, 6400 block, between 8:15 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. March 5. Entry gained to residence by breaking rear slider. Jewelry stolen.

Clarksville Pike, 12500 block, between 6 p.m. March 4 and 5 p.m. March 5. Entry gained to site by cutting fence. Tools and cooper stolen.
