Three charged in armed robbery of Laurel 7-Eleven

Two men and one woman have been arrested in the robbery of a Laurel 7-Eleven earlier this week, Laurel police said Wednesday.

Eric Wayne Glascoe, 22, Brittany Noel Smith, 22, and Michael Jay Smith Jr., 23, were arrested Tuesday and charged with armed robbery and other offenses, police said.

According to police, two men and one woman entered the 7-Eleven convenience store, located at 605 Seventh Street, at 2:30 a.m. Monday. The three waited for the store to clear and then one man took out a handgun and ordered the clerk into the bathroom, police said.

With the other man watching the victim in the bathroom, the gunman went behind the counter and removed cash and lottery tickets before they fled, police said. The woman acted as a lookout, police said.

According to police, the clerk got out of the bathroom after a short time and called police.

Police identified Glascoe, Smith and Smith as suspects through an investigation, and learned the three were residing in a motel room located in North Laurel, police said.

A search warrant was obtained for the motel, located in the 10100 block of Washington Boulevard, police said.

Howard County police officers were en route to serve the warrant when they saw Glascoe and Michael Smith walking away from the motel, Laurel police said. They were then arrested.

Howard police tactical unit made entry into the motel room and arrested Brittany Noel Smith, Laurel police said. A search of their motel room turned up possible evidence linking them to the crime, including a black BB gun that resembles an actual gun.
