Fallston man dead after I-95 crash with tractor trailer

A 66-year-old Fallston man was killed in a collision that took place Friday morning on Interstate 95 in Harford County, according to Maryland State Police.

At about 1:57 a.m., Joseph Kapinos lost control of his Chevy Cruze while traveling south on Interstate 95 and crashed into the back of a tractor trailer, police said. The collision took place south of Mountain Road in Joppa.

Emergency personnel tended to Kapinos before he was taken to Upper Chesapeake hospital, where he died, police said. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 78-year-old man from Etters, Pa., was not injured.

Police said they are unsure what caused Kapinos to lose control of his vehicle, but are investigating the incident. The slow lane and adjacent shoulder were initially closed following the crash but reopened before the morning rush, police said.
