APG to host Oktoberfest Oct. 11 to 13

Aberdeen Proving Ground will host its second annual Oktoberfest, "Hooah with Oompah," Oct. 11 to 13 at the installation's Shine Sports Field. The free event is open to the public, however, there will be a cost for souvenirs, food and beverages.

The purpose of the event is to foster relationships and continue to strengthen existing bonds with the surrounding communities. The three-day event will salute the communities around the installation, including the town of Bel Air and the city of Havre de Grace Oct. 11 from 4 to 11 p.m.; the city of Aberdeen and Edgewood all day Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Cecil County Oct. 13 from noon to 6 p.m. Salute ceremonies each day will feature local government leaders and APG senior leadership paying tribute to each community for its unwavering support of the post for almost a century.

APG Oktoberfest offers fun for the entire family and will feature German food and beverages, a 5K Volksmarch which is a form of non-competitive fitness walking, Festhalle or "festival hall" music and performances, inflatable fun for the kids, pony rides, puppet show, car show, community marketplace, Teen Zone and fireworks Oct. 12 at 9 p.m.
