HCC women's basketball team seeks national ranking

The undefeated and high-scoring Harford women's basketball team is on the cusp of cracking the NJCAA National Poll for the first time in school history. The 5-0 Fighting Owls are the first team receiving votes in the 25-team Division I poll, sitting just two votes away from the Top 25.

The weekly poll, which comes out every Wednesday, is made up of coaches and administrators of NJCAA Division I teams across the nation. No. 25 Moberly Area CC (6-0) earned 20 points while Harford claimed 18.

The Fighting Owls lead the nation in scoring (98.4 points per game) and rank second in steals (24.4 per game) by one tenth of a point and assists (22.8 per game) by 1.2 per game.

Individually, Capree Garner leads the nation in scoring (24.4 ppg) while Tiffany Taylor (20.4 ppg) ranks 10th. Shelby Key's 9.4 steals per game is 3.4 better than the second most in the nation. Garner (5.4 spg) and Taylor (4.4 spg) rank third and seventh nationally. Key also ranks third in the country with 9.0 assists per game.
