A 23-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition following a shooting in Aberdeen shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
At about 7:45 p.m., patrol officers responded to the area of the 600 block of Holly Circle to investigate shots fired, according to a news release from the Aberdeen Police Department.
As officers were checking the Holly Drive area, a call was received from a residence in the 400 block of Rogers Street reporting a male there was suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. A Harford County emergency radio broadcast at 7:55 p.m. initially reported "a gunshot wound" at an address on South Parke Street.
Officers arrived on Rogers Street and found Alton B. Vaughan, of the 400 block of Rogers Street, suffering from a wound in his left side. Vaughan was treated by medics from the Aberdeen Fire Department and transported to John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, where he was listed in stable condition Thursday morning, Budnick said.
Vaughan was driving a vehicle on Holly Drive when he was confronted by two unknown black men, according to the police department news release. One of the men ordered Vaughan to stop, the second man approached and fired a shotgun, striking Vaughan and the vehicle, police said. Vaughan drove back to his residence, where he collapsed.
There is no further information on the suspects, police spokesman Lt. Fred Budnick said Wednesday.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Detective John Divel, Criminal Investigations Sections, Aberdeen Police Department, 410-272-2121.
