A man police believe shot at police officers during a bank robbery in Virginia Friday may be in Harford County.
James Whittlesey, also known as William Downs, 52, is known to frequent Harford and Baltimore counties, and Maryland State Police are asking for the public's help in trying to find him. He may even live in Harford periodically.
Whittlesey is described as a white man, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 235 pounds with black/gray hair and brown eyes. He may have a mustache and possibly a trimmed beard. He also has a tattoo on his right forearm.
Officers from the Winchester Police Department have obtained an arrest warrant for Whittlesey charging him with the attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer, robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The charges stem from the robbery of a bank in Winchester, Va., Friday afternoon.
