Four injured in accident involving state trooper in Harford

A Maryland State Police patrol car collided with another vehicle in Harford County Sunday, injuring four people, police said.

The trooper was responding to a call with lights and sirens activated shortly after 4 p.m. when the patrol car collided with a vehicle carrying three people in the intersection of Maryland routes 543 and 7, police said.

The trooper and one of the occupants in the other vehicle were flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to police. The other two people involved were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment.

The trooper, whose name wasn't released, is assigned to the John F. Kennedy Highway Barrack in Perryville. The identities of the others involved also weren't released.

Traffic delays are expected in the area as the investigation continues.
