Bel Air apartment damaged in fire

A Bel Air apartment behind the Greenbrier Shopping Center was damaged by fire Thursday morning, the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association reported on Facebook.

Fire crews were dispatched for a one-alarm fire just before 10 a.m. in an apartment building on Selvin Drive, near the end of Todd Road south of Route 22.

"Upon their arrival[,] personnel found water coming from a rear patio door area. Crews entered and located a fire between the third and fourth floors of the structure," spokesman Rich Gardiner said on the Association's Facebook page.

"Much of the fire had been contained by a sprinkler that had activated," Gardiner wrote.

No injuries were reported and residents were sheltered in place, he said.

Units from Bel Air and Abingdon volunteer fire companies were working the scene and Joppa Magnolia was covering the Bel Air station.

Crews from Bel Air were still working an hour later, with temperatures in the 30s, Gardiner said.

Damage estimates and cause remained under investigation Thursday morning.
