CMW, Joppatowne boys improve to 2-0 on hard wood

Boys basketball teams from C. Milton Wright and Joppatowne both improved to 2-0 Thursday night with lopsided road wins.

CMW made the short trip to Bel Air (0-2) for its 69-49 non-division win, while Joppatowne routed host Rising Sun (0-2), 71-29.

In CMW’s win, senior Imran Husain scored 19 points to lead four Mustangs in double figures. Quincy Haughton added 17 points, while Brye Hopkins scored 11 and Brett Lindsey netted 10.

Jack Van Syckle added eight points and nine rebounds. Haughton had four assists and Bryan Stiemke had four steals.

Kieran McDermott paced Bel Air’s efforts with 11 points and Cam Kalandros scored nine.

CMW led big at the half, 39-15.

Mariners roll

In Joppatowne’s win the Mariners had four players in double figures and a 54-18 halftime lead.

Montrell Horsey led with 17 points, while Jalen Willis and Jalen Morris had 14 points each. Andrew Harney added 10 points.

Willis added 10 steals and Julio Brodie led with seven rebounds.

HCS wins

Harford Christian evened its record to 2-2, visiting and beating Arlington Baptist, 56-47.

Dereck Orr pumped in 19 points and Darin Miller added 18 points in the win. Mike Drew contributed eight points.

Hawks win, too

North Harford opened its season with an lopsided win, 69-13, over visiting Perry Hall Christian. Stats were not provided.
