After opening the season with a road loss at Towson on Friday, Patterson Mill was back on the field, its own, Tuesday to take on the Cobras of Harford Tech, who were seeing their first action.
The Huskies jumped ahead in the first minute of play and never trailed, beating Tech, 18-6, in a non-division game between two UCBAC schools.
“Good to bounce back today at home after poor execution Friday against a really good Towson team,” Huskies coach Jason Bellamy said. “We had a great practice Monday and were a little amped up today, which resulted in some mistakes being overaggressive on both ends of the field. But we did well at the faceoff X, played pretty good defense, and finished well today hitting the cage. We hope we can keep building the pieces as we move forward.”
Nick Repke opened the scoring just :41 in and Chance Urban added a goal some four minutes later for the 2-0 lead.
Tech answered with a goal from Garrett Custer, but the Huskies Matt Gallagher scored with just 21.9 second left in the opening quarter to give Patterson Mill a 3-1 lead.
The Huskies scored seven times in the second quarter, including four straight to start. That quickly pushed the lead to 6-1. Repke (three goals, three assists) needed just 16 seconds to score in this quarter and he was followed by Blake Tallon, Kevin Dyke and Connor Madsen.
Madsen added another goal, but it was sandwiched between two goals from Tech’s Andrew Erhardt in a 41-second stretch.
Urban added his second goal and Madsen (four goals) finished the second quarter scoring. The Huskies lead was seven,10-3, at half.
The Huskies then opened the second half with a goal in 10 seconds. Tallon (three goals, one assist) did the honors.
Dyke (four goals) scored the next two for Patterson Mill, alternating with Tech goals from Justin Steen and Bennett Cianelli.
Madsen’s final goal ended the quarter with the Huskies comfortably ahead, 14-5.
Cianelli opened the scoring in the fourth quarter with Tech’s final goal, followed by the final Patterson Mill goals from Repke, Dyke, Tallon and Gallagher (assist).
Patterson Mill goalie Justin Strawderman made 12 saves before giving way to Ryan Jeon, who had three saves.
Tech keeper Brady Sasadelli made four saves. Garrett Pfarr added two saves for the Cobras.
