Retirement community president congratulates Bel Air for ranking best for seniors [Letter]

The Aegis

Congratulations to Bel Air for being named the number one retirement spot in Maryland by Based on factors such as 11.3 doctors’ offices per 1,000 people, 2.4 recreation centers per 1,000 people and the town’s population consisting of 39.1 percent seniors, it’s not surprising the site chose Bel Air as the best place for seniors to age.

Carsins Run at Eva Mar — Harford County’s first Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) — is very excited to be part of such a vibrant senior community. Scheduled to break ground in Bel Air in 2019, Carsins Run at Eva Mar will provide Harford County seniors with even more options when it comes to retirement.

Carsins Run at Eva Mar was founded upon the Presbyterian Home of Maryland’s 130-year legacy of providing not-for-profit care for seniors — a legacy that has always put people before profit. As an independent not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community, and not part of a corporate chain, we will continue this legacy of caring at our brand new, state-of-the-art, resort-like 47-acre campus.

Our mission is to help seniors, at every stage, embrace life to the fullest; by offering a continuum of high-quality care options, seniors are free to choose the lifestyle that best fits them. Meeting the evolving needs of seniors is foremost in allowing seniors to age in place. Whether seniors choose independent living or eventually require assisted living, nursing care or memory care, CCRCs are committed to providing an intellectually, physically and socially stimulating environment based on a culture of compassion, dignity and trust.

Research shows that moving to a CCRC increases an individual’s life span by seven years due to the social and wellness aspects of the community. As the saying goes, “It’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years.” And as we like to say, “Living well is ageless!”

Again, congratulations to Bel Air for being recognized as a great place to retire. With the senior population expected to double over the next three decades, we look forward to making Carsins Run at Eva Mar a great place for vibrant senior living in Harford County.
