Harford to offer free emergency preparedness classes in September

Harford County government is offering another round of free emergency preparedness training classes.

When it comes to emergencies and disasters, it is not a question of “if”, but “when,” according to the county. Find out what you need to know to protect yourself and your loved ones in a wide range of emergency situations.

Registration is open for the “Prepare Because You Care” emergency preparedness training program developed by the Harford County Department of Emergency Services.

The next four-week session will be held on Tuesdays beginning on Sept. 4 through Sept. 25, from 7 – 9 p.m., at the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company, 2600 Castleton Road in Darlington.

Registration is required as available seats fill up quickly and space is limited. Participants must be over 18.

Topics covered will include the following:

Sept. 4 – Overview of Emergency Management/Fire Extinguisher Training/Fire Safety;

Sept. 11 – Crime Prevention/Firehouse Equipment Showcase;

Sept. 18 – Stop the Bleed/First Aid;

Sept. 25 – CPR Certification/How to Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED);
