Bark for Life celebrates first anniversary of K-9 Cody Dog Park in Havre de Grace

The American Cancer Society and the City of Havre de Grace will celebrate the first anniversary of K-9 Cody Dog Park on Saturday with the first Bark For Life of Harford County.

The event will be held at the dog park, at 100 Laraget Lane, Havre de Grace, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bark For Life is an American Cancer Society fundraising event that honors the lifelong contributions of canine caregivers. Canine caregivers participate to celebrate cancer survivorship, to honor those lost to cancer and raise money in support of the American Cancer Society’s mission to finish the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society is honored to hold its first Bark For Life of Harford County at K-9 Cody Dog Park, to honor and remember Havre de Grace K-9 Officer Cody, who lost his battle with cancer following a large drug bust.

Families and their dogs come together at this event to complete a one mile walk to honor the caregiving qualities of their canine best friends and cancer survivors.

Participants will be able to participate in the opening ceremony, celebrations of human and canine survivors and caregivers, opportunities to dedicate luminaria in honor or memory of loved ones, dog and human games, a dog costume contest, special demonstrations, vendors, food, music and fun.
