9 shot in less than 12 hours in Baltimore

Nine people were shot, one fatally, in less than 12 hours in separate incidents in Baltimore between Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday morning, police said.

Three of the shootings had two victims, with six incidents total occurring between about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3 a.m. Thursday. The most serious shooting was reported around 1 a.m. in the 900 block of N. Monroe St., just a few blocks from the Western District police station. Two men were shot, with one victim now stable and one pronounced dead shortly afterward.

The man who was killed was identified as Dominic Tales, 19. Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.

The pace of non-fatal shootings has spiked in the last week after a decline this year. As of July 26, non-fatal shootings were down 20 percent in Baltimore compared with the same period last year, according to police data.

Two men were shot and wounded shortly before 3 a.m. in the 4100 block of Norfolk Ave. in Northwest Baltimore's Forest Park neighborhood, police said. At about 2:45 a.m., a man was shot in the back in the 2400 block of W. Franklin St. in West Baltimore's Rosemont neighborhood. That victim is said to be stable.

Shortly after 10 p.m., another man was shot in the leg in the 2500 block of Hollins Street, in Southwest Baltimore's Shipley Hill neighborhood, police said.

At about 9:44 p.m., police said, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the hand at the intersection of Cross and Carroll streets, just blocks from the B&O; Railroad Museum and less than a mile from Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

A 27-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were shot in the arm and chest, respectively, at about 4:28 p.m. in the 5100 block of Gwynn Oak Ave. in Northwest Baltimore's Howard Park neighborhood, police said. Both victims were taken to area hospitals and are expected to survive.

No motive or suspect identity was given by police in any of the shootings.

Police also identified a man who was fatally shot early Wednesday in the 4900 block of Reisterstown Rd. as Kajuan Guinn, 21, of the 2900 block of Edgecombe Circle. The case remains open.
