21-month-old boy killed in Northwest Baltimore

A 21-month-old boy found not breathing in Northwest Baltimore late Monday was the victim of a homicide, Baltimore police said.

Detectives continue to investigate the child's death, which was reported at 11:51 p.m. at the Red Carpet Inn in the 5800 block of Reisterstown Road.

Police said officers on patrol were flagged down by a woman who came out of the hotel saying her baby was not breathing.

"Despite the life saving efforts by both patrol officers and medical staff at an area hospital, Jayden Curtis … was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m," police spokeswoman Lt. Sarah Connolly said in a statement.

It was not immediately known how detectives suspect the child was killed.

The boy is the city's eighth child homicide victim this year. Police asked anyone with information to call 410-396-2100.
