Police have charged a 27-year-old Baltimore man with the shooting of three people - one of whom died - in Brooklyn on Tuesday night, and allege in court documents that he is a member of the Black Guerrilla Family.
Laser Womack, 27 of the 2700 block of Round Rd., is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Johniese Sheppard, 21, as well as two counts of attempted first-degree murder for shooting and wounding two others.
Detective Raymond Yost wrote in charging documents that Womack is a BGF member and was on the second floor of a home in the 3800 block of 8th St at about 10:30 p.m. when he went downstairs and shot the victims with a .45 caliber handgun as they sat on a couch in the living room.
Police say Womack fled through a back door, but was identified by one of the victims and other witnesses.
A motive for the shooting was not listed.
Court records show Womack was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2007 on drug charges in Anne Arundel County. As The Sun reported this weekend, most prison sentences are reduced significantly for good behavior and completed work and education program.
