Man seriously wounded in Northwest Baltimore shooting

A man was shot and seriously wounded Tuesday afternoon in Northwest Baltimore, police said.

The shooting occurred just before 5 p.m. in the 4200 block of Pimlico Road in the Park Heights area. An unidentified man was found collapsed in a front yard in the block, and officers were scanning a crime scene near a corner store.

The shooting occurred underneath one of the city's blinking blue light cameras, at the intersection of Pimlico and Loyola Northway, and homicide detectives were notified because of the severity of the victim's wounds.

Several groups of people were outside, and children were playing near the scene.

A tearful woman said she had known the victim since he was young.

"I love him, but I know he was living reckless. I knew it was going to happen," said the 52-year-old woman, who declined to give her name, citing concerns for her safety. "But when you know someone all their life, you still have a reaction."

Earlier Tuesday, a man was shot and wounded in Franklin Square shortly after midnight, police said. The victim was found lying on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of W. Baltimore St. with a gunshot wound to his torso. Further details were not available.

Police released more details Tuesday about several shootings that took place Monday. In one, a man was wounded in the 300 block of McMechen St. in Madison Park about 8:30 p.m.. He told police he was giving an elderly woman directions when he was shot and didn't see who shot him.

About 4:20 p.m. Monday, a man was shot in the face and other parts of his body after an apparent home-invasion robbery in the 200 block of S. Tremont Road in Southwest Baltimore.

A woman shot about 3 p.m. Monday told detectives she was robbed of her iPhone and other items before she was shot in the leg by an assailant in the 4400 block of Alhambra Ave. in Wilson Park.
