Man in serious but stable condition after jumping from overpass onto I-695, Baltimore County police say

A 22-year-old man is in serious but stable condition after jumping off the Crosby Road overpass onto I-695 Monday afternoon, according to Baltimore County Police.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the man climb over the fencing barrier on the side of the overpass around 2:30 p.m., said Officer Jennifer Peach, spokeswoman for Baltimore County Police.

It appeared to some observers that the man either hesitated about whether to jump, or that his clothing became snagged on the barrier, said Peach. Ultimately, however, “he intentionally jumped off the bridge,” said Peach.

The man then fell onto the hood of a vehicle traveling on the outer loop, then underneath the car. The driver of the car was not injured.

Traffic continues to be heavy in the area, said Peach.
