A Baltimore man was found guilty this month of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl whom a relative was his was babysitting, the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office said Monday.

The now 9-year-old child testified in court that Jorge Fuentes, 54, would take her into a basement and inappropriately touch her, according to the state’s attorney’s office. She said Fuentes would “hurt her” whenever she was with the babysitter and told her not to tell her parent, according to the release.

Fuentes is facing 25 years in jail and is scheduled for sentencing Nov. 27, the release states.

A public defender representing Fuentes could not immediately be reached for comment Monday afternoon.

“I am very thankful for everyone’s collaborative dedication and work to bring the full measure of justice upon this predator for his appalling actions,” State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby said in the release. “As a woman and mother of two young girls, I applaud this brave young survivor for speaking up, and I pray that she and her family can begin to heal the emotional wounds they have suffered because of this horrible crime.”
