Following are key dates in the case of Heather Cook, the former Episcopal bishop now serving a prison term for fatally striking bicyclist Tom Palermo with her car while driving drunk and texting. She has applied for a two-year reduction in her sentence.

2010 — Cook is arrested, pleads guilty to a drunken-driving charge in Caroline County

May 2, 2014 — Cook is narrowly elected as bishop suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland

Sept. 6, 2014 — Cook is consecrated as first female bishop in Maryland diocese history

Dec. 27, 2014 — Cook fatally strikes bicyclist Tom Palermo while driving drunk and texting in North Baltimore

Jan. 1, 2015 — More than a thousand people take part in a bicycle ride and vigil honoring Palermo

Jan. 9, 2015 — Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announces charges against Cook in one of her first cases

Feb. 4, 2015 — Cook is indicted on 13 criminal charges, including vehicular homicide, drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident

April 2, 2015 — Cook accepts a June trial date, entering a not-guilty plea on all counts

May 1, 2015 — Cook resigns as bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland and is deposed from the Episcopal ministry

Sept. 8, 2015 — Cook pleads guilty to four criminal charges, including automobile manslaughter, drunken driving and texting while driving

Oct. 27, 2015 — Cook is sentenced to seven years in prison

May 9, 2017 — Cook applies for parole, is denied

March 23, 2018 — Cook supplements an earlier request for modification of her sentence, requests a hearing date

July 26, 2018 — Cook applies for permission to serve the remainder of her sentence on home detention, is later denied

Nov. 5, 2018 — Date of hearing set by Baltimore Circuit Judge Timothy Doory to consider Cook’s request for a shortened sentence; if granted, she could be released

Aug. 6, 2019 — Cook’s currently scheduled date of release
