D.C. man arrested in hotel robbery and shooting near University of Maryland

Jamal Ulysses Green is charged in the robbery and shooting at a hotel near the University of Maryland

A 24-year-old man from Washington, D.C., has been arrested and charged in the shooting of a security guard and robbery of a hotel early Tuesday near the University of Maryland, university police said.

Jamal Ulysses Green was arrested that same day and charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery. Online court records did not list his attorney.

On Wednesday, police continued their search for the second alleged gunman.

Officers were called about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday to the shooting and robbery at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. A security guard was shot in the robbery and was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon. He was still hospitalized Wednesday night. Police did not provide an update on his condition.

Three safes were taken. Those, along with a handgun, were recovered by police.
