A woman sustained burns to 15 percent of her body after her ex set fire to her inside a car

A woman sustained burns to 15 percent of her body after her ex-boyfriend set fire to her inside a vehicle parked in East Baltimore Thursday morning, police said.

Baltimore police were called at about 1:20 a.m. to the corner of New Hope Circle and Aisquith Street, where the 39-year-old woman told officers she and her ex-boyfriend got into an argument while sitting in his parked rental car. During the dispute, she said he set her on fire, burning her head, neck, arms and back.

She was taken to a hospital and was listed in serious but stable condition.

A police report provided by the department redacted the victim's and suspect's names. The 35-year-old suspect has not been arrested, a department spokesman said Friday morning.

A nearby CityWatch surveillance camera was defective and unable to capture the attack, the report said.

The incident was first reported by WBAL-TV on Thursday.
