Baltimore police on Wednesday said they are investigating shootings that injured eight people, including a quadruple shooting that left a 16-year-old dead, since Tuesday night
Police said the quadruple shooting occurred in the 3500 block of Garrison Blvd, near Liberty Heights Ave., in the Dorchester neighborhood on the city's west side. Officers first learned of the shooting after they were called to a local hospital at 1:12 a.m. when staff notified police of the four gunshot victims that had arrived on their own accord.
The 16-year-old died after he was shot in the chest, police said. He has not yet been publicly identified. In addition to the teen, a 19-year old man was shot in the hand, a 21-year-old man was shot in the arm, and a 22-year-old man suffered a graze to the head in the incident.
Homicide detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call 410-396-2100.
The department has reported 168 homicides so far this year, up from 106 at the same time last year. Twenty-four people have been killed in Baltimore this month.
After a particularly violent weekend, city officials announced a new initiative, a 24-hour "war room," where investigative partners will work together to target and build cases against violent repeat offenders.
In addition to the quadruple shooting Wednesday, police were called to a shooting a 1:25 a.m. to the 2800 block of Kennedy Avenue in the Coldstream Homestead Montebello neighborhood. Police said a 21-year-old man who had been shot in the hand and leg. He was taken to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
Police later determined investigators that the shooting occurred in the 2100 block of Germania Avenue in Darley Park.

Just before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, police were called to a shooting in the in the 5000 block of Denmore Ave. in the Central Park Heights community.
Officers found the victim, a 52-year-old man, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to an area hospital and was listed in stable condition, police said.
Police responded to another shooting in the same neighborhood at 10:21 p.m. in the 3200 Spaulding Ave. where a man was shot in the chest.

Earlier in the evening, a man was shot in both legs in East Baltimore. Police were dispatched at 7:29 p.m. to the 2300 block of E. Hoffman St. in the Broadway East neighborhood. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries, police said.
