Woman shot overnight; two more homicides reported in Baltimore

A woman was critically injured in one of two shootings overnight in Baltimore.

A man and a woman were injured in separate shootings overnight in southwest and northern Baltimore, while police confirmed the deaths of two people who were shot recently.

The deaths pushed the number of murders in July to 37 — the second-most killings in a month in the past 15 years. The most deadly month during that time span was May of this year.

For the year, 181 people have been killed, an increase of 56 percent over the same time last year.

In the most recent incidents, a 19-year-old woman was shot multiple times in the chest and back, and was in critical condition.

She took herself to a hospital shortly after midnight, and police believe she was shot in the 500 block of E. 43rd Street in the Wilson Park neighborhood.

A 22-year-old man was also shot in the buttock in the unit block of S. Athol Avenue in the Irvington neighborhood around 11:40 p.m. Police found him nearby in the 4300 block of Adelle Terrace. He was in stable condition, police said.

Police also confirmed two deaths from shootings that occurred earlier. Police said a man who was shot on Sunday in the 4800 block of Alhambra Ave. at about 1:12 a.m. died later that day. He was not identified by police, and no motive or suspects were listed.

Also, police said 20-year-old Daquan Mason, who was shot Thursday night in the 2700 block of Kennedy Ave. died the next day.

A violent weekend saw 15 people shot since Friday — including three homicides.

There have been 358 non-fatal shootings in Baltimore so far this year, according to police, compared to 187 shootings at the same time last year.

Police identified five people killed between Wednesday and Saturday of last week.

Charles Diggs, 37, of the 2000 block of W. Baltimore St. in Penrose, was shot to death about a half-mile away in the 1800 block of W. Saratoga St. in Franklin Square at 2:04 a.m. Saturday, police said.

On the northeast side of the city Friday night, Daquan Mason, 20, of the 2900 block of Kirk Ave. in Coldstream Homestead Montebello, was shot to death just blocks away, in the 2700 block of Kennedy Ave, police said.

Damon L. Ramsey, 39, of the 100 block of Plaza Court in Aberdeen, was killed in a shooting in the 2300 block of Harford Road in East Baltimore at 11:33 p.m. Friday, police said.

Clerow Myers III, 23, of the 6900 block of Blanche Road, just west of the city, was shot to death in the 500 block of Glengyle Ave. in Fallstaff at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, police said.

His grandmother, Peggy Myers, said she and Myers' grandfather were planning to drive Tuesday from their home in Ruby, S.C., to join the rest of the family in Baltimore this week. She called Myers "a sweet boy" who was "well thought of" in the community.

"He was a nice boy," she said. "I haven't been around him since he's been grown. I heard he was working."

No one could be reached at a phone number for Myers' family in Baltimore.

Jefferson Bolden, of the 4400 block of Park Heights Ave. in Central Park Heights, was killed in a Wednesday night shooting in the 1200 block of Clendenin St. in Penn North, police said.

No phone number was listed for Diggs, and calls to phone numbers listed for Mason, Ramsey and Bolden went unreturned.
