Police were called to a triple shooting Tuesday in West Baltimore, following three shootings — one of them fatal — in the city Monday night, police said.
Officers were called to the intersection of North Carey Street and West North Avenue, where medics moved victims — one nursing a gunshot wound while talking on a cellphone — on stretchers into ambulances as a crowd of residents looked on.
Tuesday's triple shooting happened one block from Pennsylvania and North avenues, within view of the CVS Pharmacy that was looted and burned in the rioting last week over the death of Freddie Gray.
The first victim was shot in the foot and stomach; the second, a 37-year-old man, was shot in the leg, police said. A third man was found shortly after, also shot in the leg. Investigators said at least one person came into the 1700 block of N. Carey St. and shot all three victims before running from the scene.
Another man, a 19-year-old, was shot multiple times about 6 p.m. in the 100 block of N. Monroe St., police said. Western District detectives are investigating.
In Monday's fatal shooting, officers found a 26-year-old man shot in the torso and arm just before 10 p.m. in the 1800 block of Druid Hill Ave., in the Druid Heights neighborhood in West Baltimore. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he died.
A little over an hour later, police were called to the 100 block of South Pulaski St. in Southwest Baltimore, on the border of the Carrollton Ridge and Boyd Booth neighborhoods, and found a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his thigh. He is being treated at an area hospital, police said.
Fifteen minutes later, at 11:37 p.m., police were called to a shooting in the 1200 block of Ensor St. in the Johnston Square neighborhood of East Baltimore. A 19-year-old man was shot multiple times in the lower leg. He was being treated at a local hospital, police said.
Police did not identify any of the victims or provide information on suspects.
The man's death in Druid Heights was the third homicide in the city in two days. A man was shot to death in Lakeland, in Southwest Baltimore, on Sunday night. Another man was stabbed to death Monday afternoon outside a homeless services center downtown.
Violence has erupted across the city since a riot spread across Baltimore April 27. Since April 28, there have been 11 homicides and 18 nonfatal shootings in the city, compared with three homicides and five shootings in the same period last year.
