Police identify Baltimore man found dead in Leakin Park

Homicide detectives are investigating after the body of a 36-year-old man was found in Leakin Park on Sunday.

The victim was identified by police as Ricky Tyrone Williams of the 3900 block of Liberty Heights.

The medical examiner has ruled the incident a homicide as a result of gunshot wounds, police said.

The news of Williams’ death came as a “shock” to his grandmother, 87-year-old Dee Williams of Baltimore. She had just seen him a week prior when he came to visit her. “He always gave me a hug and a kiss,” she said.

“He was very friendly,” she said. “I think he had too many friends.”

Williams recalled that her grandson graduated from high school and had played drums for his church in Park Heights as a child. “He could be a good boy. He was always lovable.”

The man is the latest body to be discovered in Leakin Park, which has long been regarded in the city as a dumping ground for homicide victims.
