Farmers and Merchants ranked for return on equity

Farmers and Merchants Bancshares, Inc. three-year return on average equity of 10.64 percent has earned it a ranking of 78 in the United States for publicly traded banks with less than $2 billion in assets. The company is the top-ranked Maryland bank and the only Maryland Bank to make the top 200. American Banker Magazine compiled the rankings for the three year period 2015 to 2017.

The company is a registered bank holding company and the parent of Farmers and Merchants Bank. Farmers and Merchants Bank, chartered in Maryland in 1919, and serves the deposit and financing needs of both consumers and businesses with its main office in Upperco, and additional branches in Owings Mills, Hampstead, Greenmount, Reisterstown and Westminster.
