Volunteer opportunities at Farm Museum

The Carroll County Farm Museum has a number of volunteer opportunities in October and November. The 35th Anniversary of the Maryland Wine Festival has been rescheduled to Oct. 13 and the museum is still in need of volunteers. Volunteers receive a free general admission ticket to the event.

The museum is looking for volunteers for the annual Fall Harvest Celebration, scheduled for Nov. 3, from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Opportunities include helping with scarecrow assembly, children's games and crafts, and information booth attendants. Students can earn school system service hours for their time. Students age 11 and younger must have an adult guardian volunteer with them.

The museum is looking for volunteers wanting to demonstrate a historical trade at the Carroll County Farm Museum. Specifically, the museum is looking for hearth cooks, broom makers, spinners, and wood carvers.

All volunteering takes place at the Farm Museum, 500 S. Center St., Westminster. To view available volunteer positions, visit www.carrollcountyfarmmuseum.org. For more information on being a volunteer artisan, contact the Farm Museum at 800-654-4645 or at ccfarm@carrollcountymd.gov.
