Carroll Lutheran Village awards employee scholarships

Employees at Carroll Lutheran Village have been awarded scholarships to continue their education. The recipients were honored during a July 26 reception at the Village.

The awards were made through the resident-funded Walters Education Fund, which provides scholarship and education advancement opportunities to employees in three tracks: Student, Professional Development, and Clinical.

To qualify for a Student Scholarship, student employees must have worked at least 1,000 hours at Carroll Lutheran Village and plan to enroll full time in college in the fall. Each receives $500 per semester for up to eight semesters for a total of $4,000. The 2018 student scholars are: Alexis Allen, of Westminster, Carroll Community College; William Fisher, of Westminster, Towson University; Emily Lolli, of Westminster, University of Maryland; Kelsey Poisal, of Westminster, Salisbury University; and Keandre Walker, of Westminster, Carroll Community College.

Professional Track scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to employees who wish to advance their skills. The 2018 recipients are Joshua Alban, Alyson Brown, Wendy Burnside, Jennifer Deskiewicz, Demetria Johnson, Emily Nikstaitis, Rachel Shipley, Tonia Stewart, Kara Taylor, Ashton Waterman and Michael Winebrenner.

One employee, Maida Guerrier, received a Clinical Track scholarship to become a registered nurse.
