Mount Airy has scheduled a meeting for residents impacted by the tornado that touched down in town Nov. 2.
Identified as an EF-1 tornado by the National Weather Service, the storm featured winds that peaked around 100 mph and left a trail of downed and cracked tree limbs.
The winds and rains collapsed part of the ceiling of the the T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods store in the Twin Arch Shopping Center and partially tore off the gas pump canopy at High’s Dairy Store.
Those who accrued damage because of the storm, resident or not, can attend a meeting with the Maryland Insurance Administration at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Mount Airy Town Hall.
Joy Hatchette, of the state agency that regulates insurance companies, will be available to field questions and concerns at the meeting.
