Finksburg man charged with assault

A Finksburg man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted a woman.

Lawrence T. Hommey, 20, of the 1500 block of Deer Park Road, was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property. He is being held without bond following a Wednesday bail review, according to electronic court records.

According to the statement of charges, Taneytown police responded to a reported assault. They made contact with a woman who said that during the escalation of an argument, Hommey had kicked her, struck her with an umbrella, thrown her possessions and put his hands on her neck.

An officer documented injury to the woman’s leg and lip, according to the statement.

A witness told police that he had observed Hommey striking the woman with an umbrella, according to the statement.

A bail review is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 2.
