CCPS announces last day of school for students

Carroll County Public Schools announced Friday that the last day of school will be Tuesday, June 18, 2019.

Schools will release students two hours and 45 minutes early that day, four days later than the originally planned upon final day.

During the 2018-19 school year, schools were closed for inclement weather six days out of the year, two more than the four built into the calendar.

The Board of Education voted in February to extend the school year past the June 14 planned final day for students — Maryland law requires a 180-day school year for students — but opted to wait to announce the final day until the school system could be reasonably sure there would be no further need for inclement weather days.

Pre-kindergarten students’ last day will be will be Monday, June 17. The last duty day for teachers and instructional assistants will be Wednesday, June 19.
